Guarding Your Hearts!
"Pay attention! Be on your guard." When I read these words in Proverbs 4:20–27 they caused me to pause and reread them slowly. Verse 23 says, “Guard your heart for everything you do flows from it." But what are we guarding it from?
We live in a broken world filled with fear, confusion, division and isolation. If we do not actively make the choice to resist, we could easily internalize what is around us. Our Christian faith is not passive. God calls us to guard our minds, hearts, mouths and actions. But guarding is only half of the solution. This passage urges us to listen carefully to God’s Word, to let it penetrate deeply into our hearts. Why? For God’s Word is life and brings healing and wholeness. Would you join me in guarding our hearts?
